New Age Prologue

     Three and a half billion years ago the Earth was wounded by a meteor estimated to be twelve to twenty miles in diameter. This meteor struck the ocean sending a tsunami more then half a mile high around the planet. Everything was destroyed on the surface. Luckily there was bacterial life at this time. Unfortunately another meteor was on a direct intercepting course with Earth. The size of this new threat was about nine miles in diameter but would cause close to the same cataclysmic ruin as the one three and a half billion years ago.
     Before the meteor, which became known as Shiva destroyed civilization and possibly all life on Earth, society had advanced technologically in many directions. Even with all the advances the Earth wouldn't be able to stop this meteor from striking. Fortunately all the advances in space examination gave earth enough time to prepare for the impact. Some countries in the beginning tried to fight the meteor by sending their weapons into space, but nothing halted or even redirected its path. Eventually people began to prepare for the impact. Financially superior countries began to dig into the Earth to create subterranean cities. With less then a year to impact the planets surface was covered with chaos, as the rich, intelligent, bright and creative minds that were selected to survive then repopulate were moving underground.
     Shiva entered the Earths atmosphere and landed in the ocean somewhere vaporizing on impact sending another tsunami on a destruction course around the planet. The tsunami submerged all the low lands but wasn't tall enough to obliterate all life on Earth. The Earth would recover, although not quick. More then half the subterranean cities would be breached by tectonic activities in the following years cause by Shiva's impact. Others were severely damaged. Only three cities out of fifty would make it to the surface of Earth again. Years after the Earth settled the three cities dug back up to the surface and began the terra-forming process. This process is slow and would last many generations, but eventually human kind would see the sun again.
     These three cities didn't just sit around waiting to re-emerge; they continued to advance their technology. During the time underground human advances in DNA leapt forward. The scientists began to fix hereditary problems inside the DNA genome. The population of one of cities decided that the new world beyond their vault had possibilities of new life forms and humans might need advances as well. The other two cities were only focused on surviving to the resurfacing process.
     The humans in one of the vaulted cities began to force evolution with DNA altering. This city focused on the development of physical improvements. The advances visually changed the appearance of humans from this city. They would later become known as Guemen. The first most visually obvious trait of a Gueman is their size. They are about seven feet tall and almost doubled in muscle mass. Their arms would extend farther almost reaching the knees. Hands were increased in size but didn't inhibit the fine motor skills that a normal human would possess. The Guemen gained an increased life span to about one hundred and ninety years, yet would still reach physical maturity by thirty years. This extended life is caused by a hyper-immune system and the extremely rapid cellular regeneration traits. This hyper-immune system protected them from nearly every biological infection known. The Guemen immune system and regeneration were so advanced that when they touched an infection or wound on another human for an extended period that human would recover as if they were a Gueman themselves. Originally these Guemen were to be our soldiers to protect us from the new world. Over the next few generations the humans in this vault died to some new disease. The Guemen survived the outbreak of this disease and continued to wait for the resurfacing.
     Another city stumbled upon a type of mental manipulation breakthrough while tampering with the DNA. During an experiment that yielded unexpected alterations on the DNA, subjects were injected with an engineered virus to fight off a new fatal disease. The virus was suppose to fuse with the DNA in the subjects and alter it to be unaffected by a disease. The cure worked and everyone who had the disease was treated. The unexpected alterations began to show up in the next generation of children. The children of this virus would be called Virens. The scientists couldn't figure out how it happened but the connection to the virus they engineered was obvious. These children possessed the abilities to move objects they could see with out touching them. They could even lift themselves off the ground for a short while. After extensive studies it was concluded the Virens could only move objects that their body could move if it did it physically instead of mentally. The population of Virens grew inside the vaulted city until every last person inherited this gift.
     Nearing the completion of the terra-forming process the third city had a viral outbreak that resulted in insanity. This virus didn't effect the health of the people only their mental state. The infected were isolated and contained. The infected didn't die off like originally thought. They continued to live and reproduce. Their children were savage and aggressive they began to fight amongst each other. They would scream hysterical gibberish and stare out of the isolation and scare the normal population. People believed that eventually they would kill each other off. Unfortunately they still possessed understanding of the cities food producing synthesis machines. The vaults were constructed to survive from any of these food synthesis machines by the chance cave-ins isolated people. It was a great engineering design, but now was working against the normal population of the vault. It was observed that the infected developed traits of animals with in a pack. Some of the infected were exciled or killed, while others remained in the pack. A small portion of the city's scientists began to do experiments on the infected people looking for a cure. They pumped their brains full of drugs and engineered DNA altering viruses. The scientists were looking for a cure to the illness but while tampering they gifted the aggressive ill with mental distortion abilities. These select few infected could now mentally distort a normal persons perception creating illusions in a persons mind. The infected unwittingly used their new abilities to confuse the scientists and escaped. The entire population of the vault became infected with the disease. Before the last of the population went crazy they put out a distress single to their T.F.S.B., then sealed the exit. The infected unaware of anything other then savage violence and their own crazy illusions continued to survive on the machines inside the vault. These infected illusionists would be known as Emmens.
